Text description provided by the architects. Your little sister grows up and becomes your client. She asks you to transform a residual 12 m² terrace into a ceramics studio, into a space as beautiful as the objects it would see come to life. The elements we would use to achieve this: a wooden pergola, a few fabric sunshades, and a façade. But how can these ordinary elements create a space fit for a ceramist's work?

A sphere, positioned between the pergola and the ground, transforms the fabric sunshades into a dome. This radius is reflected on the back wall and the façade, giving the design a classical touch. Under the "dome," the potter's wheel spins, providing a space that resembles a small presbytery. My sister can work here with the feeling of being in a special, almost sacred, place. The wooden pergola rests on the walls and supports the metal frames that create a gable roof. Beneath this structure, the dome-shaped sunscreens, the semi-arch of the façade, and the shelves combine yellow metal and pine wood, creating a functional and aesthetically pleasing space.

Section

For my sister, ceramics is a blend of design, craftsmanship, and mindfulness. I like to think that this studio embodies the first two. I hope, sister, that this space provides you with the inspiration and peace you need to achieve the third.

Para María José , la cerámica es una mezcla de diseño, artesanía y mindfulness . Me gusta pensar que este taller es una encarnación de los dos primeros. Espero, hermana, que este espacio te proporcione la inspiración y la paz que necesitas para alcanzar el último.
